Who Are We?
The Western Cape Rowing Association (WCRA) is managed by the Executive Committee who have the objective of promoting, developing, and enhancing rowing in the Western Cape. Our role, mandated by Western Province schools, clubs, and universities, enables the Committee to manage, promote, co-ordinate, control, discipline, and plan the development and performance of rowing in the Province.
WCRA a constituent member of Rowing South Africa (RowSA) and operates in close co-operation with RowSA, the South African Rowing Officials Association, and other Regional rowing bodies to promote rowing in South Africa.
Our Responsibility
WCRA recognizes its responsibility to promote, develop and enhance rowing in the Western Cape. WCRA specifically seeks to grow rowing in the Province, whilst ensuring that the number of athletes transitioning from rowing at school to university & club rowing are retained. Transforming the demographic of rowers within rowing, and aiding individuals seeking to represent the Province and the Country remains a key objective.
The WCRA stands for the highest possible standards of sportsmanship, respect for others, honesty, fairness and integrity in the sport.
