Provincial Talent Identification and Selection Policy Summary
2024 - 2025 Season
The Western Cape Rowing Provincial talent identification and selection process of athletes will be comprised of two tiers:
South African National trialling representatives - Tier 1 (Elite):
Tier 1 rowers are rowers that have met the National standards for competition or have met the National Ergo standards.
Eligible athletes for Tier 1 will automatically be invited to attend the Provincial Trials, Performance camp and/or Provincial Selection Regatta/seat races.

|
SA Champs Medal: Scull, double Scull and Pair. Wildcard: At the discretion of the IC panel.

U16 Women: 7:40 at sea level. U16 Men: 6:40 at sea level
|
U19 Junior National
|
SA Champs Medal: Scull, double Scull and Pair. Wildcard: At the discretion of the IC panel. Column content

Junior Women: 7:20 at sea level. Junior Men: 6:20 at sea level.

U23 National
|
SA Champs Medal: Scull, double Scull and Pair. Wildcard: At the discretion of the IC panel.

U23 OW Men: 6:18 at sea level. U23 LW Men: 6:35 at sea level. U23 OW Women: 7:18 at sea level. U23 LW Women: 7:33 at sea level.

Western Province representatives - Tier 2 (Sub-Elite):
To be eligible for Tier 2 status, and be invited to the Provincial trials, athletes must:
➢ Meet the Provincial standards for competition by means of ergo and water performances.
➢ Eligible athletes for Tier 2 will automatically be invited to attend the Provincial Trials, Performance camp and/or Provincial Selection Regatta/seat races.
➢ For Coxes to be considered, their crew must achieve an A-final at a National Regatta, or their crew needs to have won WC Champs, or be a wildcard candidate, nominated by their coach.
➢ Post SA Champs wildcard and fringe athletes will be invited to attempt a last ergo trial.
All Tier 2 trialists to be approved by the Provincial selection committee and will be invited to attend the Performance camp and/or the Provincial Selection Regatta /seat races.
