Traffic moving to the start is to remain on the eastern side of the dam, while traffic moving to the finish is to remain in the buoyed course or directly west thereof i.e. traffic moves in an anti-clockwise direction. This applies to both training and racing.
Crews waiting at the 500m, 1 000m or 1 500m mark are to remain off the course and remain vigilant of crews rowing further up the course.
Crews excluded at the start are to row down to the finish directly west of the course, or as instructed by the umpire or safety marshal.
Boats are to remain behind the finish line until the race has been cleared by the umpire, and crews instructed to return to the launching area.
When the dam is low, a number of tree stumps are exposed. Rowers need to be aware of these areas and remain away from them.
Strong northerly and southerly winds can blow at this venue. If caught in strong winds and you cannot row to the launch area, rather let the wind push you to the bank and then beach your boat.
All boats must remain at least 100m from the dam wall.
